Huys te Britten was designed by architect duo Jan-Willem de Reus and Johan Drenth of Kr8Architecten and opened in March 2007. It is a semicircular building, constructed from environmentally sustainable materials, with a relaxed leisure atmosphere. As with the Dune Houses, the "green" roof is covered with sand and dune grasses.
The Plaza, on the ground floor, is reached via a charming, wooden bridge. Restaurant Catwyck and snack bar Big Snack are accessible via the Plaza, as is the swimming pool, which is exclusively for use by guests of De Noordduinen. From the 'deep' end of the pool, you can swim through to the outside, where is another separate swimming pool to enjoy. The children's pool, done in a Roman theme, was designed with playing and games in mind. There is a genuine Roman ship, splash platform, sprinklers and slides attached to a Roman fort.
On the lower floor of Huys te Britten there is a recreation room and a children's area with amphitheatre. Bingo evenings are regularly held in the recreation room. Our recreation team uses the children's area to stage a wide range of activities in all Dutch school holidays.
There are two more conference rooms on the upper floor, suitable for various events and themed functions.
