Do you also think it is a pity that the beach in front of the boulevard of Katwijk is closed because of the sand supplementation? The seagulls do not fly around for no reason when sand is sprayed. The raised sand is full of critters from the seabed. Including bivalve shells, which are still connected, such as Clams, which many children look for because of their pink or light yellow colours.
This winter nature guides of IVN (Institute of nature education and sustainability) organizes beach excursions in Katwijk on Saturday 7 December, Saturday 18 January, Saturday 15 February and Saturday 1 March.
On Saturday 7 December we collect just before 1 PM on the parking lot Noordduinen, Noordduinseweg in Katwijk aan Zee, on the corner at the KNRM-shed.
At 1 PM we leave and let ourselves be surprised by the things we find along the ebb and flow line. The tour lasts one and a half to two hours, depending on the weather and what we find there.
The tour is free and for all ages.
Tip: pull extra warm (and depending on the weather forecast waterproof!) clothing and good (waterproof) footwear! It is always colder than the sea behind the dunes.
